I'd like to take this moment to update everyone who officially and unofficially follows the Dark Workshop. There is a reason there has been no content posted, and that is because I have been in the hospital for the last two weeks and only just recently got released. As such, there will not be much in the way of articles. Although, I do hope to finish the holiday special.
For those of you who are curious, I suddenly fell quite ill and that played havoc with my blood sugar and placed me in a diabetic coma. From there, I spent a week recovering in the intensive care unit. I am all healthy now and getting back on my feet so things should be returning to normal soon.
That's all for now. I hope all of you are enjoying better health and I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas. I'm looking forward to another exciting and interesting year. Enjoy your holidays and the new year!
Best Wishes from the Dark Workshop

I know, it's been dead quiet from the Dark Workshop for quite awhile, but it's not easy thinking up new things that other people haven't done ten times already on their own blogs. So today, a special project of mine: my take on Lexicanum Calistarius from GW's Space Hulk game.

It's now come that time to celebrate the first year of the Dark Workshop's introduction to the digital universe known as the internet. To celebrate this glorious achievement, small though it is, I bring to you a look into protecting all the work that we hobbyists do.

As much as I was hoping to get lots of terrain articles in for August as possible, it seems solutions to certain problems are a little harder to come by. Regardless of that, we shall press on and keep throwing some terrain together while the weather is still livable.

Would a shield by any other name still be as effective? Not so long ago this conversation came up. After much digging around and sorting things out, I've decided to make a post to effectively answer this problem should it ever arise again. What it really breaks down is what makes something "WYSIWIG" and how to effectively represent that.

Although this may be a departure from the regular hobby related material I prefer to post, this is a story I feel I must share for it is, as the title suggests, truly incredible. Not to worry, another hobby article is in the works. But I digress, onto the story.

Welcome back, where've you been? What do you mean it's me who hasn't posted anything in forever? In that case, right to business. Just because everyone else has already talked about it doesn't mean I'm late. I just like having the final word. If the title hasn't given it away already, I will be looking at the relatively new Finecast. Not so much a review or instruction manual, but observations.

The other night I had an exciting idea. I cannot claim to be the first to think of doing this, but it is the first I have thought of this and the prospect of making it work excites me as a gamer and hobbyist. That is, of course, destroyable buildings that are easily employed during a game.

Today I'd like to talk about a tool that's not so much worked with as it would be utilized. Something different, I know, but still important. Organization is as much a skill as it is a tool, and an important one for this hobby. Especially with as many bitz and projects that 40K generates.

This has been a crazy month. Unfortunately nothing new or inspiring for the wargaming tables this month, but certainly lots of creativity. Between Blood Angels and Grey Knights flying or teleporting all over the place, a certain special project managed to disrupt all of that.

So taking a page from Beasts of War, I present my own version of "What's in the Box". I shall call it, The Bitz Yard. I never intended my blog to be a place for reviews, rants, opinions or tutorials, simply gathered inspiration, and that won't be changing with the Bitz Yard. I will simply be showing what uses I can see from various bitz.

Have you ever wondered how people get such good photos of their minis against that trademark white background? No? Well, I have because I didn't know how they did it. So for those of you like me, allow me to show you how to get that photo finish yourself.

It's been a long time since my last post and I've certainly been busy. That Blood Angels second wave sure was exciting for the few models that it amounted to, but it really got the hobby juices flowing. Here's a look at a few of the things I've been working on.

After a successful day of instructing the younglings in painting, building many miniatures and even observing a few epic clashes across the table top, there's nothing quite like ending the day with beer and wings. Beer for the horses and wings for myself of course. It is in these winding down times that inspiration is wont to strike.

In the early days of December of the year just past, I had decided to take the final step. I felt I had reached the limits of possibility using simply bristled brushes and that in order to expand into new realms of possibility, I needed to accept the fact that I was to get the airbrush I planned on getting for many a year. That, and another skilled painter in the area had gotten one and was painting up an incredible storm. I couldn't be left behind.

Today released two new special characters and two new missions for the Badab War series. I'd like to talk about the characters, especially Harath Shen. He is particularly interesting and I am most excited about making a model for him, of course in my chapter's own colours.
